Nature Valley Oats 'n' Dark Chocolate Granola Bars |
I've gotten into the habit of including granola bars in my kids lunches. While admittedly, granola bars do contain some sugar, the nutrition in a granola bar is superior to that in either a candy bar or a bag of chips, which are the substitutes.
Nature Valley Granola Bars | Hershey Chocolate Bar | Lays Potato Chips | |
Serving Size | 42g | 42g | 42g |
Calories | 190 | 227 | 225 |
Fat | 7g | 21g | 15g |
Carbohydrates | 29g | 18g | 22g |
Dietary Fiber | 3g | 3g | 1g |
Protein | 4g | 8g | 3g |
Iron | 4% | 5% | 3% |
Cost/Pound | $5.33 | $8.00 | $6.82 |
Obviously, the serving sizes for each were adjusted to equal 42 grams, or about 1.5 ounces, so I could do an apples-to-apples comparison. Notably, the Nature Valley Oats 'n' Chocolate Granola Bars contain fewer calories, significantly less fat, and are less expensive per pound.
Makes both sense and cents.
The best deal I've found to purchase Nature Valley Oats 'n' Dark Chocolate Granola Bars is Amazon.com. For six boxes containing six packages of two bars each, the price is $17.88. The link to purchase is:
